October Car Sales 2025: Nexon Rules, Compact SUVs & Sedans in Demand
India’s car market shines in October 2025; Tata Nexon, Maruti Dzire, and Hyundai Creta dominate top 5 bestselling cars.

India’s passenger vehicle market did not slow down even during the month of October 2025 as sales were quite high. The festive demand and the tax reforms made by the Union government were the main reasons behind this. The Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) reported that the compact SUVs and sedans were the main contributors to the growth, and thus the entire segment was up by 17.3% as compared to the previous year.
Among the launches and new models, the Tata Nexon was the winner for October 2025, and it still has the status of being the most favorite in the sub-4m compact SUV segment.

1. Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon sold a total of 22,083 units which is 49.62% more than the sales of October 2024. The company has even upgraded the Nexon with Level-2 ADAS features and the release of a new Red Dark variant. The compact SUV is still a hit with city buyers with a price beginning at ₹8.36 lakh (on-road, Noida).
2. Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Dzire, the sub-4m compact sedan that is very much liked by both private buyers and fleet operators, continued to be in second position with 20,791 units sold, which is a 63.73% increase from last year. It has a sunroof, wireless charger, automatic climate control, and a 1.2L NA petrol engine with a CNG version available as well. Prices start at Rs 7.18 lakh (on-road, Noida).
3. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The MPV from Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which is budget-friendly, has sold 20,087 units, which is a 6.93% increase compared to last year. The spacious cabin and the subtle design are the key factors for the popularity of the Ertiga among cab operators. The available engine options are a 1.5L NA petrol and CNG. The starting on-road price in Noida is Rs 10.04 lakh.
4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Wagon R, an easy-going hatchback with a squared-off look, turned out to be the best-selling car in the country as 18,970 units were delivered in the month of October 2025, which is 36.26% rise in sales compared to the previous year. Besides, the very car is equipped with a semi-digital odometer, manual AC, and power windows for all four doors. The price of the car starts from Rs 5.69 lakh (on-road price, Noida).
5. Hyundai Creta
The Hyundai Creta, a compact SUV with abundant features, was sold in 18,381 units which marked a 5.05% rise compared to the sales in the same month last year. The customers are given an option to select from the different types of engines including 1.5L NA petrol, turbo petrol, diesel, or even an electric model. The prominent features of the car include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and Level-2 ADAS. The on-road price of the car in Noida begins at Rs 12.62 lakh.
